Located on the Bahraini coastline, Seef is a busy commercial district dominated by offices, luxury apartments and hotels. One of its newest hotels, the impressive Swiss Belhotel, is surrounded by government ministries and the workplaces of many local and multinational companies. Standing 28 storeys high, the hotel has sea-views from the 7th floor upwards and is within walking distance of the popular Seef Mall.
The area of Seef has been developing since the 1980s. The hotel itself is located on the site of one of the oldest civilisations in the world and is even thought by some to be the location of the Garden of Eden. With construction finishing at the end of 2020, the hotel will take in its first guests in 2021.
It was important to the hotel owners that the building stood out on the Seef skyline, where it is amongst a number of equally impressive and visually pleasing structures. The lighting needed to deliver impact, while remaining stylish and sophisticated. It was also important that the lighting complemented the building materials used on the hotel’s façade.
Pulsar was appointed to specify the lighting and deliver the design and service. A number of solutions from the manufacturer’s extensive product portfolio were used, and Pulsar partnered with Pharos to complete the system with control capabilities. The Pharos TPS (Touch Panel Station) and Pharos LPC 1 (Lighting Playback Controller) have both been used to offer a complete control system that can be used by hotel staff.
The LPC and TPS work seamlessly together to enable the hotel to have complete control over the look of the façade, with customisable colours and lighting effects that can be changed thanks to the easy-to-use touchscreen.
