Wallenstam is a company that prides itself on going beyond property management. One of Gothenburg’s major property developers, Wallenstam works in close collaboration with cities to create safe, secure urban spaces and neighbourhoods where people love to live, work and visit.
Wallenstam offers a range of high-quality housing in Stockholm and Gothenburg, with the bulk of its commercial acquisitions in Gothenburg. The Swedish developer, which has over 200 buildings in its portfolio, takes environmental issues and society’s increasing need for security seriously, and actively looks for new opportunities to build, develop, and work more sustainably.
The Avenue, formally Kungsportsavenyen, is the main boulevard in Central Gothenburg. In 2018, Wallenstam initiated a project to light the façades of its buildings.
The objective of the scheme was to illuminate its Neo-Renaissance architecture beautifully. To achieve this, Stockholm Lighting supplied architectural outdoor luminaires from Lumenpulse. Stockholm Lighting used a Lutron DALI system combined with the highly versatile Pharos Architectural Controls LPC 1 (Lighting Playback Controller 1) and LPC 2, supporting the DMX lighting protocol to control the dramatic interplay of warm and cool whites highlighting the details of the façade.
A Pharos TPC (Touch Panel Controller) was also integrated into the final solution, offering control of playback selections and lighting levels at the touch of a button. The TPC delivers seamless transitions between scenes and timelines and provides Wallenstam with all the benefits of lighting controls in a user-friendly interface.
The lighting design and installation was completed by White Arkitekter and So El AB respectively.
As night falls, the finished scheme elegantly sets the buildings apart from the rest of the main street.
