Now in its twenty-third year, Lights in Alingsås is an international lighting design event held in the centre of the Swedish city. Lighting designers from across the globe work with international students to illuminate urban environments. After a week-long workshop, the results are unveiled with a grand opening. The installations can then be seen and visited throughout the month of October.
The theme for the 2022 event was ‘Only One Earth. 7.9 billion reflections.’ and a fantastic mix of interpretations of this theme could be seen in the chosen installations. One of these, ‘Aura’, in the Udden location – created by Berry van Egten & Ellen Goulmy, founders of Berlux Lighting Design in the Netherlands, and programmed by Rasmus Pettersson from Stockholm Lighting Company AB – was brought to life thanks to an LPC 1 (Lighting Playback Controller 1) from dynamic lighting control specialists, Pharos Architectural Controls.
The LPC 1 is an award-winning, all-in-one controller that is designed for 24/7 operation. Offering unrivalled reliability for LED installations, the LPC 1 features individually controllable and independently running timelines and scenes. This is perfect for offering fully customisable pre-programmed lighting effects as required by the unique ‘Aura’ lighting installation.
Lights in Alingsås attracts around 70,000 visitors each year, demonstrating its importance for both those who work in the lighting community and those who want to enjoy this auspicious event.
