The Barclaycard Arena, formerly the National Indoor Arena, in Birmingham has re-opened after an 18 month, £26 million redevelopment, with an increased capacity, new retail spaces, and state of the art lighting managed by two Pharos LPC 4 advanced lighting controllers.
A striking feature of the refurbished venue is a brand new glass façade, which includes an LED Wonder Wall installed by Pharos partner Architainment. Architainment chose Pharos’ controllers to manage the display of the Wall due their ability to render complex dynamic text and enhanced colour images on the LED facia.
The Wonder Wall is 51m long and 10m high, with 960 nodes of Philips ColorKinetics iColor Flex, custom designed for expansive installations without the constraints of fixture size, shape or space. This vibrant display presents an impressive façade to greet the public at the Arena’s main entrance.
Pharos controllers enable all dynamic text and images to be personalised according to the specific requirements of each sporting or musical event. This highlights the status of the Arena as an important attraction in the Midlands and adds to the sense of anticipation for visitors to this iconic venue.
