The Kennet Academy in Thatcham, Berkshire prides itself on its high performance results and top grade teaching facilities. The school recently upgraded its multipurpose hall’s lighting system in partnership with Pharos reseller AC Lighting to reduce energy consumption and offer modern, flexible lighting for drama pupils to learn from.
AC Lighting provided a full-scale lighting control system and audio equipment to the school to cover a wide variety of events ranging from simple presentation evenings through to large-scale summer productions. A Pharos LPC 1 manages the intuitive switching of control between a Jands Vista and the master LPC to facilitate each requirement.
A particular consideration was the matter of safety within the school environment, and the LPC’s versatility in the control and management of a range of automated lighting fixtures minimises the amount of manual focusing required via a rig. An audio solution was also incorporated into the lighting control arrangement to deliver a comprehensive, modern and flexible system for simple events such as assemblies.
The new lighting system has created a real buzz around the secondary school, with both internal and external events providing a more professional experience. This enables the involvement and engagement of a number of students new to entertainment lighting, and builds on Pharos’ other successful integrations at key academies in the educational sector.
