SDI (Serial Data Interface)
The Pharos SDI (Serial Data Interface) is an accessory to the Pharos EDN 20 (Ethernet Data Node). Together they enable any lighting controller in the Pharos Designer range to output a variety of serial protocols for controlling products such as addressable LED tape.
The EDN 20 is configured as a whole either to output DMX directly to lighting fixtures or to output one of a range of serial protocols with an SDI required for each active port. Both synchronous (SPI) and asynchronous serial lighting data are supported and these protocols allow for 1536 channels per port.
Each SDI should be placed close to the lighting fixtures it is controlling, with its DC input range of 5-28V giving the flexibility to use the same power supply as the fixtures. Supported cable lengths from the EDN 20 are up to 200m for asynchronous data and 40m for synchronous data.
Compatible with with all controllers in the Pharos Designer range, the combination of EDN 20 with SDI is particularly appropriate for very high capacity lighting or video installations using the VLC family, flexibly mapping video to LED tape or custom lighting fixtures. The Pharos VLC with Pharos EDN + SDI combination will provide a cost-effective single-manufacturer control solution, all the way way to the fixture.
