Renfrew Town Hall currently sits on the exact same location as the original town hall did in 1670. In January 2012 the town hall officially reopened as a visitor attraction, following a £5.2 million programme of restoration works supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
In 2019, Renfrewshire Town Council appointed lighting solutions specialists LITE to deliver a dynamic lighting scheme for the town hall. The brief was for the building to stand out during the evenings and be able to respond to national events by boasting a suitably coloured lighting scheme when needed. A particular focus was illuminating the prominent spire.
To enable the project to proceed quickly and be completed in an impressive two-week timeframe, it was decided the spire would be remotely illuminated, which also ensured the client had easy remote access at all times.
ColorGraze RGBW fittings from the Color Kinetics range were used to light the structure, controlled by our award winning Pharos LPC (Lighting Playback Controller), with a 3G router to allow for remote access. The main control of the installation is located adjacent to the highest column, with a wireless DMX transmitter that pulses the signal to the other two columns and main building.
Renfrew Town Hall now stands proudly illuminated, shining bright in the centre of the town, with capacity to independently run dynamic and customisable lighting scenes at any given time.
