101 Collins Street, Melbourne
101 Collins Street is one of Australia’s largest office towers. Inspired by some of the world’s most famous landmarks including the Eiffel Tower and the Empire State Building, the top of the tower is fitted out with 700 metres of linear lights, with the capability to display over 16 million different colours.
- The refurbished lighting installation is 50 percent more energy efficient than the building’s previous lighting scheme
- A Pharos VLC 50 runs video content designed by bluebottle based on specifications from the client, 101 Collins St / AXA , and from lighting designers Arup
- The VLC outputs Philips protocol KiNET to the Philips Vaya Tube, Reach and Accent Compact fixtures
- Programmed with Pharos Designer, the VLC has daily shows that begin after sunset, and transition through a variety of scenes coming to an end by midnight
- The standard evening displays can be automatically, or manually overridden on chosen days and for events like the Grand Prix, AFL Grand Final, Remembrance Day, Christmas Day, and the Melbourne Cup
