Suppose you’ve created a project in Pharos Expert. You’ve carefully placed your fixtures on the canvas, created all the spaces you need and created stylish scenes to take your installation to the next level.
You arrive on site and discover the RGB fixtures you’ve programmed are, in fact, HSI.
All is not lost, because Expert provides a simple way to change the type of a fixture on your canvas while retaining your existing programming.
How to change the type of an existing fixture
- Click the add items button in the canvas toolbar and select ‘Fixtures’
- Select the new fixture type
- Hover your mouse over the existing fixture you wish to update (the canvas status bar will show ‘Change type of fixture to…’)
- Click to confirm the fixture change
Updated fixtures will retain all existing scene programming and space memberships. If your updated fixture has the same DMX footprint as the previous type, or a smaller footprint, any existing patch setup with also be retained. For example, a patched RGBW 4ch fixture will retain its patch when its type is changed to RGB 3ch. If the new fixture type has a larger DMX footprint than the previous fixture type, the patch entry will be removed and you will need to assign a new address.
