Job Summary

The Senior Software Developer position is within our development team, which works concurrently on a variety of exciting, cutting-edge projects. As the team is growing rapidly we are seeking to increase our capability to develop robust software solutions for the entertainment industry. The Senior Software Developer would work closely with our existing software team to design, develop and integrate application-level solutions to technical challenges within our suite of products.

A successful candidate should be similarly minded to work in the driven, focused environment required to bring original and ground-breaking products to market. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement software solutions for our suite of products
  • Help produce technical product specifications given client/market requirements 
  • Take responsibility for specific product features and provide regular development updates
  • Perform code reviews and help more junior software developers working as part of a team

Essential Qualifications

  • Genuine interest in software design and technical challenges
  • 2:1 or higher degree in a related subject from a Russell Group university or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of experience working as software engineer using C++
  • Excellent knowledge of C and C++
  • Familiarity with development using the Qt toolkit
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to discuss prior design work and explain the design processes involved and justify decisions made
  • Ability to communicate ideas and concepts effectively in spoken and written English within a technical environment
  • Evidence of the ability to work as part of a team, sharing skills, experience and interests with colleagues 

Desirable Extras 

  • Excellent time management, including the ability to prioritise conflicting tasks appropriately
  • Knowledge of Git and Gerrit version control and code review tools

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the production of a division of products within Carallon’s Manufacturing operation, where the production process involves mechanical assembly, testing, and quality control. This position is ideally suited to those with prior experience of running a final assembly electro-mechanical production environment, though specific training on internal systems and processes will be provided.

Carallon’s Manufacturing team has an excellent culture of continuous improvement, learning and mutual support. Additionally, they are highly skilled in the products and processes involved in their work. Candidates should be able to manage their own workload, time and line manage others. The successful candidate will have individual responsibility for day to day operation of production from the smooth operation of goods-in and incoming parts quality, to scheduling a team to delivery of finished goods, working autonomously and responding flexibly to the changing needs of the business. Our Manufacturing team is close knit and highly motivated, with a keen interest in the products it creates. Candidates should be similarly interested in the work involved and be able to adapt to changing priorities as we bring original and ground-breaking products to market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team delivering one of Carallon’s controller product ranges
  • Attend regular Manufacturing Management, Parts and Supply, R&D and Scheduling meetings
  • Schedule a Production Team involving line managing several members
  • Work with Senior Manufacturing Engineers to ensure Documentation for Production Processes is kept accurate and up-to-date
  • Overseeing and resolving quality issues with suppliers demanding corrective action
  • Overseeing and resolving tools/process improvements with internal R&D team
  • Feedback on delivery schedule to Operations teams
  • Ensure Health and Safety, Staff Training and Equipment Maintenance is all in good order
  • Respond to Customer queries on schedule or quality
  • Plan with Director of Manufacturing, R&D and Senior Engineers for New Product Introduction

​Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, engineering or business as well as a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a relevant manufacturing sector
  • At least 2 years’ experience of Line Management of a team around a production environment
  • Experience managing time effectively, prioritising conflicting tasks as appropriate, both for yourself and those you manage
  • Proficient in using ERP/MRP systems
  • Strong communication, organisational and empathic people skills
  • Operate on strategic levels whilst also being prepared to understand the practicalities of tasks involved
  • Able to act as a conduit of information, between different teams and levels of seniority, to ensure that each team-member ​understands their own priorities and how they connect to the company’s strategic goals
  • Be able to follow design guidelines, instructions and mechanical drawings, as well as maintain such documents for new products
  • Understanding of the implications of Compliance and relevant standards to production such as standard UL 62368-1
  • Be confident taking responsibility for the consistent quality of products manufactured
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of electronics and experience of its practical applications
  • Understand product test cycles and be able to balance workload and provide flexibility to meet changing priorities based on incoming orders
  • Excellent written communication, able to produce regular reports and updates adjusted for the a range of different audiences, as well as create and update company documentation
  • Able to represent the Director of Manufacturing from time to time at key meetings

Fixture Database Support Technician

Job Summary

The Fixture Database Support Technician will work on the Fixture Database Service, which provides fixture data for some of the entertainment lighting industry's biggest names, including ETC, MA Lighting and Chroma Q. You will work under the direction of the Fixture Database Manager, liaising with clients to fulfil support requirements in a timely manner and assisting the team to maintain and develop the fixture database.

We will give you the opportunity to work independently on interesting projects that have a lasting impact on the database, and we work hard to ensure a respectful and collaborative environment in our day-to-day work.

We are interested in hearing from people who are enthusiastic about entertainment lighting and feel they would be a good fit for our friendly, supportive, and flexible team. Key Responsibilities

• Creating, updating, and testing fixture definitions for use in lighting consoles
• Correcting fixture definitions as errors are reported or as the data model is updated
• Providing support for clients, including lighting console and fixture manufacturers
• Providing QA for internal tools including, but not limited to, application testing and development of test cases

Essential Skills 

• A technical background in the entertainment industry with a bias towards lighting
• Experience using lighting controllers and fixtures

Based in west London, it develops and builds industry-leading, award-winning products for high profile installations and events including global theme parks, U2 and Ed Sheeran world tours, plus television and film applications such as The Mandalorian.

Carallon is owned by an employee ownership trust and is run by and for the benefit of its employees.

Job Summary

The COO is a board level appointment and will play an active role in implementing the company’s strategy for its purchasing, manufacturing, and facilities operations. They will be a key member of the senior executive team and will focus on executing operational objectives and long-term goals set by the CEO and the Carallon board. Carallon’s forecast is for very rapid growth in demand for the products it manufactures over the next 12-24 months and the COO will take the lead in organising and managing the scale-up in the manufacturing capacity required to meet this expected increase in demand.​

An understanding and prior experience of manufacturing operations and techniques for high-quality electronics is a pre-requisite to accepting this position. The successful candidate will be required to adopt and demonstrate a clear process-based approach to project management with established methods and guidelines to guide the production and purchasing teams to achieve manufacturing targets. They will also be expected to advise on production processes with a view to the effective mentoring of the Director of Manufacturing, while coordinating relationships with suppliers, both existing and new, to meet the expected increases in procurement and operations.​

Separately, the COO will need to assess existing and expected capacity constraints that may necessitate an additional manufacturing and/or logistics site with the resulting requirement to coordinate between multiple locations. The overview of building management and facilities functions is therefore an important additional element of this role.​​

A clear focus, effective communication and organisational skills plus exceptional systems capabilities are key requirements of this position. The COO will report directly to the CEO and will assist him in determining the future strategy and direction of the company.​

Key Responsibilities

  • Management of all inventories to ensure efficient practice, with adherence to agreed stock turnover targets
  • Minimise wastage, ensure low stock obsolescence and the reduction of any excessive stock
  • Manage the head of procurement to ensure the optimum supply of all raw materials and components, with particular focus on supply constraints and long lead-times
  • Coordinate with the Director of Manufacturing to ensure works orders are scheduled and built on time
  • Oversee a review of existing manufacturing operations, alongside the Director of Manufacturing, and adopt enhanced systems and processes to meet the forecast scale-up in procurement and assembly
  • Regular engagement with key suppliers, including a close relationship with an existing CEM in Shenzhen, to ensure expected service levels, quality and values are maintained
  • Regular meetings with Pharos and Brompton representatives to manage their existing sales orders and review forecasts for future demand
  • Ensure effective systems are in place to manage the integration between the London warehouse and remote operations
  • Review all existing suppliers and assess the need for future contract manufacturers and/or explore potential closer vertical integration with assembly houses
  • Manage operations in partnership with the operations manager to ensure that the logistics function is operating at required service levels with adherence to export, customs and excise regulations
  • Manage the facilities manager to ensure the smooth operation of our building in Chiswick and coordination between planned multiple sites
  • Line-management and direction of the operations, logistics, purchasing, manufacturing, and facilities departments

Essential Qualifications

  • Prior experience in project management and techniques for maximising efficiency within a manufacturing environment
  • Significant line management experience, including leading teams to successfully meet challenging objectives
  • Strong communication, presentation, and mentoring skills
  • Excellent time management, including the ability to prioritise conflicting tasks appropriately

Desirable Extras

  • An electronics or engineering background​
  • Prior experience of managing a building or facility
  • Qualification or degree in business administration
