The Space Centre is home to the largest multisensory environment in the United Kingdom for people with special needs. Established in Preston, Lancashire in 1993, it now has two large sensory rooms and a third smaller room.
The Space Centre’s mission statement is: “To provide a place where those with physical, learning or emotional difficulties may more easily acquire skills and enjoy experiences usually denied them.”
Lee Engineering designed and installed the lights for the three spaces, which include lighting, sound and projection equipment. Each room has its own dedicated Pharos LPC controlling it. The lighting and sound is synced with Pharos software run on iPads, allowing visitors to easily take control of the rooms and personalise their sensory experience.
