New in Designer 2.14, configure a schedule for recurring fixture status tests using RDM.
On this page:
Enable RDM Status Tests
RDM Status Tests are enabled from the ‘Patch’ tab of Designer 2. Select ‘RDM Tests…’ from the toolbar and check the box labelled ‘Enable RDM tests’.
💡 Tip: This will be the project’s default schedule and will apply to all universes. Set up an override to configure different behaviour on one or more universes.

The latest results are available from the ‘Fixtures’ tab of the controller’s web interface. See our online help documentation for more information on fixture status.
Configure Test Schedule
Once enabled, RDM Status Tests are carried out at regular intervals according to a test schedule. The following recurrence options are supported:
Daily
Complete one RDM Status Test each day. Provide a time at which the test should begin, and specify whether the tests should occur every day, every other day, every third day etc.
Weekly
Repeat RDM Status Tests every week, on one or more days. Provide a time at which the test should begin, and specify the day(s) of the week on which a test should be completed.
Monthly (by day)
Complete one RDM Status Test each month, according to the day of the week. Provide a time at which the test should begin, and select a day of the week. The schedule can be configured to run on the first, second, third, fourth or last occurrence of that day in the month.
Monthly (by date)
Repeat RDM Status Tests every month, on one or more days. Provide a time at which the test should begin, and specify the day(s) of the month on which a test should be completed.
Yearly
Create an annual recurrence by specifying the month(s), day(s) and time at which RDM tests should be completed. It’s also possible to specify whether the tests should occur every year, every other year, every third year etc.

Per-Universe Schedule Overrides
The project’s default RDM test schedule can be overridden on a per-universe basis. Navigate to the ‘Patch’ tab in Designer, and find the universe on which you wish to configure a bespoke schedule. Click the ‘Override RDM Test…’ button and check the box labelled ‘Override default RDM tests’.

A second checkbox, labelled ‘Enable RDM tests’ appears. Leave this unchecked if you do not want RDM tests to be completed on this universe.
If you would like to complete RDM tests on this universe, but wish to configure an alternative schedule, check the box labelled ‘Enable RDM tests’ and set up your desired test schedule. Recurrence options for per-universe overrides are the same as those offered for the project’s default RDM test schedule.
Start a Status Test Using Triggers

If you’d rather start RDM Status Tests manually, you can start an RDM status test using the ‘Start RDM Poll’ trigger action. Test results are available from the ‘Fixtures’ tab of the controller’s web interface. More information is available in our online help documentation.
