Murray Bridge, Arkansas
Spanning the Arkansas River at over 4000 feet in length, the Murray Lock and Dam at Little Rock, Arkansas has the world’s longest purpose-built pedestrian and cycling bridge, dubbed the “Big Dam Bridge”.
- 169 Illumivision Light Wave LX RGB LED fixtures lighting the 13 piers of the dam supporting the bridge
- Wireless Solution’s DMX system broadcasts DMX across the bridge to Illumivision’s fixtures to run dynamic colour changing sequences and effects over the entire span
- Design inspired around the seasons with colours precisely chosen to reflect the colours of each season
- Playback managed by the Pharos LPC realtime clock and calendar, LPC’s astronomical triggers provide lighting control for automated day-to-day operation, based on local sunrise and sunset times
- Manual override switches for changing the lighting when large vessels are going through the lock
Eric Chernuka of Illumivision explained some of the benefits of his choice of Pharos as a control solution; “The Pharos LPC allowed Illumivision to reduce programming time by at least seventy-five percent while meeting the client’s creative control requirements.” Churnuka has also been heard to comment that “It brings tears to my eyes when I have to use anything besides Pharos as a controller now.”
