London Eye, London
One of the most famous landmarks in London, the London Eye (also known as the Millennium Wheel) is a giant Ferris wheel on the South Bank of the River Thames in London. The permanent LED lighting on the London Eye and the Millennium Pier has been controlled by Pharos LPC 2s since their installation in 2006, and have proved an integral part of the Mayor of London’s annual New Year’s Eve lighting and fireworks display.
- 1040 RGB LED fixtures relight the world’s third tallest observation wheel and adjoining ferry pier
- Three networked LPC 2s work cooperatively as one to render multi-colour effects in perfect synchrony
- The LPC’s compact, solid-state design ideally suited to the rigours of the exposed, rotating structure
- Astronomical triggers ensure automated dusk-to-dawn operation
- Realtime clock triggers provided second-accurate participation in the New Year’s Eve firework display
- The LPCs have a custom web interface providing manual control
