Tower of Refuge, Isle of Man

Conceived of by Sir William Hillary, founder of RNLI, the Tower of Refuge provided a safe haven for victims run aground on the reef in Douglas Bay.

  • Refurbishment of structure included new lighting scheme not feasible before low power LEDs were available

  • Philips Color Kinetics C Splash are able to withstand the extreme conditions of the Irish Sea coast

  • Installation remotely controlled by a LPC via fibre optic cable from Man’s IT department, located at the airport on the other end of the island
